Kenneth R. Cargill Celebrates 30th Anniversary Practicing Law with Cooper Cargill Chant

Kenneth R. Cargill, partner of Cooper Cargill Chant, recently celebrated his 30th anniversary practicing law with Cooper Cargill Chant.

Ken began his career as a Certified Public Accountant at Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). Since joining the firm in 1987, he has served the business and estate planning needs of institutional and individual clients in New Hampshire and Maine.

Ken’s business practice includes entity selection and formation including guidance as to governance and control structures. His transactional experience includes negotiation and consummation of commercial transactions including business purchases, sales and commercial loans. He regularly represents developers of residential, commercial and mixed-use properties including pre-acquisition investigations, securing required governmental approvals, and preparation of development documentation. Ken also provides counsel to financial institutions in connection with commercial lending as well as loan renegotiation and asset recovery.

Ken also provides ongoing estate planning counsel to both commercial clients, as well as individuals and families. Estate planning services include long term tax planning and development of asset preservation strategies for closely held businesses.  In addition to specific transactional matters, Ken provides general counsel to many nonprofits and business organizations.

Ken was voted Best Lawyer in the Mt. Washington Valley in 2016 and 2017 and named a White Mountain Treasure by Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.   Ken’s longstanding commitment to advocating for the Mount Washington Valley includes his past and current service as moderator for North Conway Water Precinct, moderator for Town of Conway, moderator for Tamworth School District, member of Conservation Commission for Town of Conway, member of Planning Board for Town of Tamworth, Board of Trustees for Memorial Hospital, Trustee of Gibson Woodbury Charitable Foundation, Board of Directors for Coos County Family Health Services, Trustee and Treasurer for The Tamworth Foundation, President and Trustee of the Gibson Center for Senior Services and Board of Directors for Northern Community Investment Corporation.
